Indian wedding timeline template, with real buffer times
Most wedding delays come from three gaps: getting ready, the baraat, and dinner opening before the pheras. Build your timeline around those.
A two-day template
| Function | Typical slot | Buffer to plan |
|---|---|---|
| Haldi | 10:30 - 13:00 | 45 min to wash and rest before the evening |
| Mehendi | from 16:00-17:00 | Bride's mehendi alone takes 3-5 hours, start her first |
| Sangeet | 19:30 - 23:30 | Sound check 60 min before performances |
| Baraat | gather 60 min before start | Safa tying takes 30-40 min for a big group |
| Milni / Varmala | after baraat arrives | Baraat almost always runs 30-60 min long |
| Pheras | on the muhurat | Seat guests 10-15 min before the muhurat |
| Vidaai | after pheras | Elders and the car ready 30 min ahead |
Five rules that keep it on time
- Write the muhurat once, in one document everybody has. Phone relays change it.
- Give guests start times and vendors call times. They are different numbers.
- Put the last shuttle time on every evening function.
- Name one guest-help person per side, with a number, on every page.
- Send a short image to the family WhatsApp group. Nobody opens a PDF at the venue.
